Grants Roundup: Good Ventures Gives $13.5 Million to Tackle Parasitic Infections

Here are notable new grant awards compiled by The Chronicle:
Mays Family Foundation
$25 million to the Mays Business School at Texas A&M University to develop a new leadership academy, expand the school’s building, and support study-abroad programs.
Grainger Foundation
The foundation pledged up to $25 million to match giving to a fund for scholarships at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s College of Engineering.
Conrad N. Hilton Foundation
$15 million to multiple organizations working on issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, and disaster relief. The Corporation for Supportive Housing will get $6 million for efforts to end chronic homelessness in Los Angeles. Other awards include $1 million, split between Save the Children and the International Rescue Committee, for programs to help Syrian refugees in the United States and abroad.
Good Ventures
$13.5 million to Imperial College London to treat millions of people across Africa suffering from schistosomiasis and intestinal worms.
Sangreal Foundation
A $10 million matching grant to support Global Wildlife Conservation’s work protecting critical ecosystems and endangered species.
Russell Berrie Foundation
$8.25 million to the Naomi Berrie Diabetes Center at Columbia University Medical Center to study the relationship between metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes, and the brain.
Dominican Sisters of Peace
$1.5 million to Ohio Dominican University to renovate a campus building.
John S. and James L. Knight Foundation
$1.2 million to the Miami Urban Future Initiative, a joint venture by Florida International University and consulting firm Creative Class Group for research about economic, entrepreneurial, and technological resources in Miami.
PwC Charitable Foundation
$1 million to Team Rubicon Global for its programs tapping veterans as volunteers for disaster response and relief.
