The human-rights organization has laid off approximately 45 people in its Washington office.

The group, which serves homeless people and families, plans to shut down.

Delta Axis (Memphis)

The visual-arts organization plans to close.

Destiny Foundation of Central Florida (Orlando)
|
The charity, which helps poor people and their families, plans to close at the end of September.

Family Services of the Mid-South
|

New Directions Inc. (Memphis)
|
The substance-abuse treatment center plans to shut down.

|
Planned Parenthood of Indiana
|
The organization plans to close five clinics throughout Indiana. (Indianapolis)

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (Princeton, N.J.)
|
The foundation has laid off and given buyouts to 50 employees, about 20 percent of its staff. (This updates information reported in the July 2 issue.)

Sarasota Orchestra (Fla.)
|
The orchestra plans to impose pay cuts of between 2.5 percent and 10 percent for all staff members, and its chief executive and artistic director have volunteered to reduce their salaries by 10 percent. In addition, four vacant posts will remain unfilled.
