The Top 10 Fund-Raising Tweets

June 16, 2011 | Read Time: 1 minute

At Fundraising Day in New York last week, Margaret Holman, a fund-raising consultant, offered a light-hearted punch by offering a made-up list of her favorite fund-raising tweets at the event’s lunch.

Amid table drumming and laughter, she pronounced them in the style of David Letterman:

10. “I just bought an iPhone, an iPad, and an iPod, and now I can’t give.”

9. “Our contributions have now returned to pre-1986 levels. Thank you.”

8. “Be sure to arrive at our gala early, you’re guaranteed a full TSA screening.”

7. “In response to your appeal, we plan to adopt all the kids from your country. Signed, Brad and Angelina.”

6. “With every gift of $500 or more, you will receive a share of the New York Mets.”

5. “The foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Web manager: Anthony Weiner.”

4. “Today the medical center announces our $1-billion campaign slogan: #Winning.”

3. “Sending my favorite necklace to you for your auction. Love, Lindsay.”

2. “Last night’s event did not meet our goal. You’re fired. The Donald.”

1. “I told my board president that I would send him a tweet. He thought I called him a twit. My resume is attached for your review.”

Which one is your favorite? What would you add to the list?
