OPINION: DISASTER FUND RAISING

A “shocking” amount of money donated for disaster relief and rebuilding projects never ends up benefiting people for whom it was intended, writes Richard M. Walden in The New York Times. Mr. Walden, president of the relief organization Operation USA, says that while some charities simply take in more money than they can spend on a single crisis, other groups, such as Operation Blessing and Feed the Children, may use the donations to push their religious or ideological agendas.
