In this special report, the Chronicle of Philanthropy identifies the 100 nonprofits that earn the most support from individual Americans, private foundations, and corporate philanthropies. These organizations each raise hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions, in cash support — specifically, gifts of cash and stock.

Organizations are ranked based on the average amount they raised annually from 2021 through 2023, the latest year data are available for all groups. We also examined their annual giving from 2018 through 2020 as a baseline to see who’s growing (and how quickly) and who’s not.

Read our full coverage, including analysis of the donation trends, fundraising strategies, and macro forces — political, economic, and cultural — that influence giving. Also, see our methodology for the report and read about our partnership with Cause IQ, which provided much of the data for the report.
