$100-Million Gift Will Create Center to Study Human Stem Cells

Billionaire businessman Denny Sanford has pledged $100-million to create a center for the study of human stem cells at the University of California at San Diego, according to a university news release.

The center, to be named after Mr. Sanford, will work to develop drugs and cell therapies to fight cancer, spinal-cord injuries, Lou Gehrig’s disease, and other medical conditions.
