$117-Million Gift for New Singapore Medical School

Singapore’s Lee Foundation has pledged $117-million to establish two endowments for a new medical school at the country’s Nanyang Technological University, The Straits Times writes.
The school will be named the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, after the late businessman and philanthropist who started the foundation.
Half of the gift is earmarked for a fund offering scholarships and other student financial aid. The remainder will support education and clinical research. Singapore’s government is providing additional aid, bringing total financing for the school to $400-million.
