$17-Million Bequest Goes to N.J. Jewish School

A Jewish day school in New Jersey has received a $17.2-million gift from the estate of an emigre from Nazi Germany who died last year, New Jersey Jewish News says.
The bequest from Eric F. Ross to the Golda Och Academy in West Orange, N.J., will initially support a travel program, named for Mr. Ross’s late wife, Lore, to send students to Eastern Europe and Israel.
The couple, who lived in South Orange, had previously given $4.5-million that paid for a campus renovation in 2007.
Mr. Ross escaped from Germany to the United States in 1938 and later amassed a fortune in the plastics industry. Last month the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum announced a $17.2-million bequest from his estate.
