$70,000 Said Missing From Coffers of Sandy Hook Charity

The co-founder of a runners’ organization that raised $103,000 for Newtown, Conn., after the December 2012 school shooting there says more than $70,000 is unaccounted for and that the charity’s other principle has cut off contact with her, the Associated Press reports.
The Nashville-based 26.4.26 Foundation held marathons at which runners dedicated each mile they ran to one of the 26 children and teachers killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Co-founder Robbie Bruce presented $30,000 last January to NYA, a youth sports center in Newtown.
Ryan Graney, the other founder, said the rest of the money 26.4.26 raised is missing. She said Mr. Bruce was in charge of the charity’s finances and cut off contact with her in September after she confronted him about suspicious charges on the organization’s PayPal account.
Mr. Bruce did not return repeated phone messages from the Associated Press. Ms. Graney said she filed complaints with the Tennessee attorney general’s office and the FBI, which said they do not comment on continuing investigations.
