9% of CEOs at Midwest Nonprofit Hospitals Earn at Least $1-Million

One in 11 chief executives at nonprofit medical centers in the Midwest make more than $1-million a year, reports MedCity News.
The survey of 732 hospitals by the health-care industry publication Payers & Providers found that children’s hospitals paid the highest wages, with Randall O’Donnell, CEO of Children’s Mercy Hospital and Clinics in Kansas City, Mo., topping the list at $6-million.
The average compensation for regional CEO’s in the survey was $481,000. The salaries in the report are from the 2008 and 2009 fiscal years, the most recent for which data were available.
