9/11 Groups Look to Anniversary to Revive Fund Raising

As the 10th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks draws near, 9/11-related charities hope to seize the moment to rally donors and set their agenda for coming years, The Wall Street Journal says.

Many such charities have seen fund raising declining as the economy slid and sharp memories of the attacks gave way to donor fatigue. Groups such as Tuesday’s Children, which aids 9/11 victims, and the Tribute WTC Visitor Center near ground zero are stepping up activities in anticipation of the greater public and news-media attention the anniversary will bring.

“If you’re not doing OK this year, next year is going to be sort of bleak,” said Terry Sears, executive director of Tuesday’s Children.
