A Wiener of a Marketing Idea?

Feeding America, the hunger-relief charity, has found a quirky way to use social media raise money and draw attention to its work.
The organization is working with Kraft Foods to auction a chance to ride “Shotbun” on the Oscar Mayer “Wienermobile” for a day.
All of the money raised through the eBay auction will be donated to Feeding America. To date, the top bid is $1,111.11.
To give the effort a more social twist, the company and the charity are hosting a related online effort in which visitors are invited to go to a Web site that prompts them to finish the sentence “It doesn’t get better than _____”.
Every time somebody completes the sentence, Kraft donates a pound of food to the charity. It also invites visitors to the site to add the sentence to their Facebook news feeds.
How does this effort compare with other online corporate-charity promotions? Post a comment to share your thoughts.
