AIDS Group’s Move Causes Rift Among Supporters and Activists

A plan to move Gay Men’s Health Crisis, in New York, from its home of the past 15 years to new quarters has caused a rift within the AIDS advocacy group, writes The Wall Street Journal.

Veteran AIDS activists are angered at the board and the organization’s executive director and say the move would endanger or curtail many of the organization’s operations, such as a medical clinic, a full dining hall, and a research center.

Marjorie Hill, the organization’s chief executive, defended the move and said the new location would enable her organization to expand its number of treatment and counseling rooms.
