Appeals Court Blocks Move to Lift Ban of Acorn Funds

A U.S. appeals court has temporarily blocked a lower-court ruling that Congress acted unconstitutionally in cutting off federal funds to the community-organizing group Acorn, writes the Associated Press.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also agreed Wednesday to expedite the government’s appeal of two previous decisions by the federal District Court Judge Nina Gershon, who sided with Acorn.
Congress voted last year to halt payments to the embattled activist group, which has been buffeted by allegations of fraud and mismanagement.
