Asia Foundation Names New President

The Asia Foundation, in San Francisco, has named the head of the American University, in Cairo, as its new president, according to Agence France-Presse, a French news service.

David Arnold, who has led the university since 2003, will become president of the foundation in January, replacing Douglas Bereuter, a former U.S. congressman who led the foundation for the past six years.

Mr. Arnold previously worked at the Ford Foundation from 1984 to 1997, with assignments in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
