Buffett Completes Radiation Treatment for Prostate Cancer

Billionaire philanthropist Warren Buffett said Friday that he has undergone the last of 44 days of radiation treatment for early-stage prostate cancer, according to The Omaha World-Herald.
The co-founder of the Giving Pledge was diagnosed in April but said at the time that the Stage 1 cancer was “not remotely life-threatening or even debilitating in any meaningful way.” Nevertheless, the illness has fueled speculation about a succession plan at Mr. Buffett’s investment firm, Berkshire Hathaway.
Mr. Buffett started daily radiation therapy at the Nebraska Medical Center in mid-July. He announced the end of his treatment in a meeting with executives at newspaper owned by Berkshire Hathaway, among them the World-Herald.
Mr. Buffett celebrated his 82nd birthday in late August by giving each of his three children an additional $685-million in Berkshire stock to apply to their charitable foundations.
