Buffett Increases Gift to Gates Foundation by 28 Percent

The philanthropist Warren Buffett’s latest donation to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation amounted to $1.6-billion, a 28 percent increase from last year’s $1.25-billion gift, reports Bloomberg.
The billionaire financier gave an additional $328-million to charities run by his three children and a foundation named for his late wife, Susan.
Mr. Buffett makes an annual gift to the Gates Foundation in the form of stock in his company, Berkshire Hathaway, which saw gains in profits of 61 percent last year. He gave $1.8-billion to the world’s largest philanthropy in 2008.
