California Probes University Foundation After Palin Paperwork Found

California authorities are investigating the finances of California State University’s Stanislaus Foundation and its refusal to disclose details of its deal with Sarah Palin to speak at a June fund-raising event, according to the Associated Press.

The probe, announced Tuesday by Attorney General Jerry Brown’s office, follows students’ discovery Friday of pages from the ex-Alaska governor’s contract with the university, some of them shredded, in a campus trash bin. The pages include directions for Ms. Palin’s travel, lodging, and onstage needs but do not reveal her fee, which the university has refused to disclose, citing a confidentiality agreement.

Mr. Brown said the investigation “is not about Sarah Palin” but concerns “public disclosure and financial accountability in organizations embedded in state-run universities.”
