Capitol Hill Visit by Representative of Lance Armstrong Charity Raises Questions

A spokesman for a New York congressman says a lobbyist for Lance Armstrong’s cancer charity was on Capitol Hill last week, raising concerns about the investigation by a nonprofit group that has accused the former cycling champion of doping, writes The Wall Street Journal.
A spokesman for Rep. Jose Serrano said a visit to the congressman’s office by a representative of the Lance Armstrong Foundation centered on procedures of the nonprofit U.S. Anti-Doping Agency.
Mr. Armstrong’s charity, widely known as Livestrong, works to raise cancer awareness and support survivors of the disease. Mr. Armstrong, a cancer survivor and seven-time Tour de France champion, has denied allegations by the anti-doping group that he used performance-enhancing substances or methods.
A foundation spokeswoman called the account of the meeting “inaccurate” and suggested that the congressman’s aide may have misconstrued a passing reference to the doping inquiry. “All of our lobbying is focused on the well-being and access to care that our constituents rely on,” she said.
