Charity Book Sales May End Up In Remainder Bin

As more people shelve print books in favor of e-books, some charities worry about diminishing returns from their traditional book-sale fundraising events, the News & Record in Greensboro, N.C., reports.

While many still expect that the lure of hand-held and rare books will continue, others are turning to backup plans. At Shepherd’s Center of Greater Winston-Salem, Executive Director Sam Matthews said that although last year’s sale was successful, he is working on another, yet-to-be-determined event to launch in the fall.

“By the time it’s reaching maturity, the book sale may be reaching its end point,” Matthews said.
