Charity Raises $2.6-Million in Auction for Lunch With Warren Buffett

An anonymous donor bid $2,626,411 for a lunch with the investor Warren Buffett to benefit a San Francisco charity, the most an item has raised for charity on eBay, according to the Associated Press.

The lunch with Mr. Buffett is auctioned annually, and the proceeds go to the Glide Foundation, a charity that provides social services to homeless and other needy people. Mr. Buffett’s late wife, Susan, introduced him to the charity’s founder. Winners of the lunches are allowed to ask Mr. Buffett anything except for questions on future investments.

Glide estimates the lunch auctions have raised almost $9-million in the past 12 years.
