Charity Uses Soccer to Help Haitian Youth

A Haitian youth team brought to the United States by a soccer player’s charity for a respite from the devastation back home has won America’s largest youth soccer tournament, reports the Associated Press.
The team took the gold medal last weekend in the Schwan’s USA Cup in suburban Minneapolis, emerging victorious from among more than 900 teams.
The two-week U.S. trip was arranged by the Tony Sanneh Foundation and Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy, Mr. Sanneh’s former team. Mr. Sanneh and other Galaxy players traveled to Haiti in March and have provided aid to L’Athletique d’Haiti, a youth-sports organization.
