Putting a charitable twist on makeup companies’ popular gift-with-purchase promotions cosmetics firm Clarins announced it will add contributions to an antihunger organization as a premium on certain sales, The New York Times writes.
For 10 days starting Wednesday, consumers who buy two Clarins items from Macy’s stories will receive a traditional gift—a bag of six trial-size products—and trigger a $1 donation to benefit the United Nations World Food Program. Clarins has trademarked the phrase “gift with purpose” as part of what it is calling the first introduction of charity into the offers.
The effort is a partnership among Paris-based Clarins, Macy’s, and Feed Projects, a for-profit entity founded by model Lauren Bush Lauren that donates most of its proceeds to fight hunger and malnutrition among children. Feed Projects will channel revenue from the sales to the U.N. program.
