Court Tosses Defamation Claim by Feed the Children Founder’s Son

A federal appeals court has thrown out a defamation suit filed by the son of the ousted Feed the Children founder Larry Jones against his sister and five directors of the antihunger charity, The Oklahoman writes.

The appeals court on Wednesday refused to reconsider a lower-court judge’s dismissal of the case. Allen Jones sued his sister, Larri Sue Jones, and the directors in May 2009, claiming she falsely told the board members at a meeting that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Ms. Jones was then Feed the Children’s general counsel but has since been fired. Mr. Jones did not work for the Oklahoma City charity, which dismissed Larry Jones a year ago following allegations that he wiretapped the offices of Feed the Children officials amid a power struggle with the board of directors.
