Diary of Hitler Aide Donated to Holocaust Museum

The diary of Alfred Rosenberg, one of Hitler’s top aides, has been given to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, in Washington, according to NPR.

The 425-page diary contains entries made from 1936 through 1944, detailing Mr. Rosenberg’s role in the party’s genocidal policies. Besides being involved in the mass murder of Jews, he created a task force to steal cultural property throughout Europe.

Robert Kempner, a German lawyer who was a chief prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials, had the diary, but it was lost after he died in 1993 until the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement seized it.

Holocaust museum director Sara Bloomfield said finding the diary took 17 years.
