Federal Employee Giving Drops in 2012 Drive
April 23, 2013
U.S. federal employees pledged 5.3 percent less in the 2012 Combined Federal Campaign than they did in 2011, according to Government Executive.
About 850,000 government workers contributed $258.3-million in the annual drive, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) reported. That’s down from about 960,000 employees and $272.7-million one year earlier. About four million federal employees were solicited in 2012, with an overall participation rate of about 21 percent. The average gift was just over $300.
Despite the drop, the figures still put 2012 among the top 10 highest years of giving, an OPM official noted.
