The investor Mario Gabelli has pledged $25-million to his alma mater, Fordham University, the largest gift in the New York institution’s 169-year history, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Fordham’s undergraduate business school will be named for the 68-year-old founder of Gabelli Asset Management, now known as Gamco. The gift toward the university’s $500-million capital campaign will be used to support scholarships and professorships and to create a center for the study of global capital markets.
Mr. Gabelli also announced a $3-million donation to Boston College, on whose Board of Trustees he sits, to endow a professorship in finance.
