Fund Offers $12.5-Million to Spur Creation of Israel University

The Tikvah Fund, in New York, has offered a $12.5-million matching grant to a Jerusalem think tank that seeks to establish what it bills as Israel’s first liberal-arts college, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports.
Tikvah pledged to match other donations made in the first four years of operation of the proposed Shalem College. The fund has been a major backer of the Shalem Center, which hopes to open the school next year pending accreditation by Israel’s Council for Higher Education.
