Giving by Big UK Family Foundations Down 9%

Britain’s 100 largest family foundations curbed their charitable giving by more than $190-million last year, an 8.7-percent reduction, reports Third Sector Online.
The foundations awarded about $2.06-billion in the 2009-10 fiscal year, about 7 percent of all private donations in the United Kingdom, according to a report by the Centre for Charitable Giving and the Pears Foundation.
The value of the foundations’ assets increased 7.8 percent in the same period, which the study says “raises hopes that family foundation giving will [show an] increase” in 2010-11.
