Giving Pledge Wins Gates and Buffett Recognition as Top ‘Global Thinkers’

Warren Buffett and Bill Gates’s global campaign to convince the world’s wealthiest people to give away half their fortunes to charity earned them the No. 1 ranking in Foreign Policy magazine’s second annual list of the Top 100 Global Thinkers.
In a special report delving into the “global marketplace of ideas,” the magazine praised the billionaire philanthropists “for stepping up as the world’s states falter” to tackle major health, economic, and environmental issues and for their mission to “transform philanthropy from a pastime of the wealthy into a calling for everyone who is rich.”
