Harassed N.Y. Bus Monitor to Launch Anti-Bullying Charity

The upstate New York grandmother whose verbal abuse at the hands of four teenagers on a school bus led to a viral video and a $700,000 fundraising campaign will use a portion of the money to start a foundation to fight bullying, CNN reports.
Karen Klein will put about $100,000 of the crowdfunding proceeds into the new foundation, which will be administered by her daughter, Amanda, and make grants to anti-bullying organizations.
Ms. Klein, 68, was working as a school-bus monitor in Greece, N.Y., in mid-June when she was subjected to tirade of insults, jeers, and profanity by four boys.
Another student filmed the incident on a cell-phone camera and posted the video to YouTube, where it received more than 8 million views and prompted a campaign on the crowdfunding Web site IndieGoGo that drew more than 32,000 donors worldwide.
