Harvard Alumni Couple Gives $40-Million for Teaching Innovation

Former cable-company executive Gustave Hauser and his wife, attorney and diplomat Rita Hauser, have donated $40-million to Harvard University to set up a grant fund supporting new classroom technologies and innovative teaching methods, Bloomberg and ABA Journal report.

Both Mr. Hauser, ex-chairman and CEO of Warner Cable Communications, and Ms. Hauser, who served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Commission on Human Rights, graduated from Harvard.

They have made numerous gifts to the Cambridge, Mass., campus, helping fund construction of the law school’s Hauser Hall in 1994 and establishing the Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations in 1997.
