Health Insurer Supports YMCA in Diabetes-Prevention Program

The YMCA is teaming up with one of the nation’s biggest health-insurance companies and retail pharmacies to operate a program intended to help prevent Type 2 diabetes, says The New York Times.

UnitedHealth Group is paying the YMCA and pharmacists to keep people healthier, with the hope that the program will eventually lower health-care costs and premiums.

UnitedHealth plans to begin the program in seven cities.
