Hunger Charity CEO Claims Board Tried to Oust Him for Whistle-Blowing

The chief executive of the Heifer International Foundation is suing the hunger charity, saying a quartet of board members sought his ouster after he raised questions about governance, says the Associated Press.

Domingo Barrios said he was placed on administrative leave after voicing conflict-of-interest concerns over members serving on the boards of both Heifer International, which provides livestock and agricultural training in poor communities worldwide, and the foundation that manages the charity’s $75-million in endowments.

A foundation spokeswoman said the organization had not yet seen the lawsuit and does not comment on pending lawsuits.
