Bloomberg LP has pledged $1-million toward the Hirshhorn Museum’s unusual “bubble” project, which would be named after the financial-services company, The Wall Street Journal says.
In an interview with the Journal, Richard Koshalek, director of the museum said the institution plans to build a 145-foot-tall inflatable structure that will protrude from the interior of the doughnut-shaped modern-art museum, part of the Smithsonian system.
In other arts news, an experimental music organization has taken a major role in efforts to build a cultural district in downtown Brooklyn, proposing to renovate a dilapidated 600-seat performance space in the borough, according to The New York Times.
Roulette Intermedium will spend $700,000 to $900,000 to renovate the space at the Y.W.C.A. of Brooklyn, on which it signed a 20-year lease last month. The building is located near the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
