Lady Gaga Aides Say Japan Bracelet Suit ‘Misguided’

A lawsuit alleging Lady Gaga misled fans in her sale of charity wristbands to benefit Japan earthquake relief is “misguided” and “without merit,” representatives of the pop siren said Tuesday, according to Reuters.
The class-action lawsuit filed Friday in Michigan alleged that not all proceeds from sales of the $5 rubber bracelets stamped “We Pray for Japan” went to earthquake victims, as promised on the star’s Web site, and that shipping costs for the wristbands were inflated.
“The entire $5 donation made with the purchase of each bracelet is going to support the disaster relief. No profit is being made on shipping costs,” a statement from Lady Gaga’s camp said.
Lady Gaga, who was in Japan for a benefit concert when the lawsuit was filed, has reportedly donated $3-million to earthquake relief through the wristband sales and other efforts.
