Leading Broadway Figure to Head Lincoln Center

Lincoln Center, the nation’s largest nonprofit performing-arts center, has selected Broadway producer Jed Bernstein as its next president, The New York Times reports.

Along with producing recent revivals of Hair, Driving Miss Daisy, and Equus, Mr. Bernstein has headed national trade group the Broadway League for more than a decade. He will take office at Lincoln Center in January, when outgoing President Reynold Levy steps down.

The job will be Mr. Bernstein’s first for a nonprofit organization. A veteran of courting investors for commercial productions, he said he was undaunted by the fundraising demands of leading Lincoln Center, which relies on donors for nearly half of its annual $118-million budget, noting, “I’ve been asking for money for a long time.”
