Medical Aid Charity Merlin to Merge with Save the Children

Venerable global relief group Save the Children will absorb Merlin, a younger aid charity that provides health care in crisis zones, Third Sector and Reuters write.
The two U.K.-based humanitarian groups announced the pact Tuesday, saying in a joint statement that their union would “create a world-class humanitarian health force for children and their families living in some of the toughest places in the world.” The merger is effective immediately and is expected to be complete within 18 months.
Merlin, founded 20 years ago, deploys front-line health workers in 16 countries, while century-old Save the Children is active in more than 120 countries.
