Background: Mr. Shriram founded Sherpalo Ventures LLC, an angel investment fund.

Mr. Shriram, 58, and his wife, Vidjealatchoumy, 53, gave Stanford University $57-million to establish the Shriram Center for Bioengineering and Chemical Engineering and $4-million to endow a professorship in the Department of Bioengineering. The couple did not attend the university, but their two daughters are Stanford students.
