Obituary: I. Stanley Levine, 81, Revitalized South Florida Arts Scene

I. Stanley Levine, a powerhouse Miami lawyer and a major force in building South Florida’s cultural scene, died on Monday, The Miami Herald writes. He was 81.

Mr. Levine raised millions of dollars for the Concert Association of Florida, the Miami City Ballet, the New World Symphony, and the Performing Arts Center Trust. He is credited as being a key player in developing an area of Miami Beach that showcases art galleries, as well as the ArtSouth artists’ colony in nearby Homestead.

He worked largely behind the scenes, providing free legal work and making revenue-producing deals for arts organizations in conjunction with donating and raising funds, the newspaper said.
