Pittsburgh Foundation Latest to Receive Gift From Late Steel Mogul

The Pittsburgh Foundation announced on Tuesday an $18.1-million donation from the estate of William S. Dietrich II, the latest in a series of posthumous gifts from the industrialist to local institutions, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review writes.
The contribution will establish three Dietrich Foundation funds to support community groups and charities in Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania boroughs of Greenville and Conneaut Lake.
The former chairman of steel supplier Dietrich Industries made nine-figure donations to Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh in the weeks before he died Oct. 6 at the age of 73. Last week Duquesne University, Chatham University, and the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust received gifts totaling $22.5-million from his estate.
