Reality TV’s Kardashian Disputes Claims on Husband’s Charity

Reality television star Khloe Kardashian is defending her husband, pro basketball player Lamar Odom, against accusations that he has improperly used funds from the foundation he launched in 2004 to help children with cancer, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Mr. Odom was one of the sports stars singled out in an investigation of athletes’ philanthropy by ESPN. That report said Cathy’s Kids, which the Los Angeles Clippers star founded in honor of his mother after she died of cancer, has made no grants to cancer groups and spends most of its money on two youth basketball teams.

Writing in her blog, Ms. Kardashian said Mr. Odom has given $2.2-million to Cathy’s Kids and that all of its money is “used for one of the foundation’s intended charitable purposes,” which include helping inner-city youths as well as cancer research. She said supporting the basketball teams met the former goal.
