Sen. Grassley Seeks Data on Health Advocates’ Corporate Backing

Sen. Charles Grassley is seeking information from 33 health-care advocacy groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Cancer Society, on their financial ties to drug, medical-device, and insurance companies, according to The Wall Street Journal.

In letters sent out Monday, the Iowa Republican asked for data on how much the organizations had received in the last three years from such firms or from foundations they established. Staff members from the Senate Finance Committee, on which Mr. Grassley is the ranking minority member, said the senator wants to determine whether those groups get financial incentives to support industry positions when lobbying Congress on health issues.
