Tenn. Nonprofit Investigated for Missing Money

A state audit has discovered more than $208,000 in missing money at a Tennessee charity, reports The Leaf-Chronicle.
The state comptroller’s office carried out the audit of the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Action Agency and said the money was stolen by an employee who has since died.
The organization’s executive committee had already suspended its executive director, Joel Riddle, for 30 days. Mr. Riddle has resumed his job.
David Harper, chairman of the organization’s board, said that the audit was only one part of the investigation. Its insurance group is also undergoing scrutiny.
