Tony Blair Plans to Donate Memoir Proceeds to Soldiers Charity

England’s former prime minister Tony Blair has announced that he plans to give millions of dollars in earnings from his forthcoming memoir to the Royal British Legion, a charity that helps soldiers injured in battle, writes the Associated Press.

Mr. Blair says he will give the charity both the proceeds and the approximately $7.5-million advance the publisher Random House paid for the memoir to support the Legion’s Battle Back Challenge Center, a high-tech sports and rehabilitation facility for wounded soldiers.

The memoir, which is titled, “A Journey,” recounts Mr. Blair’s decade as prime minister and will be published in September. Some antiwar activists have said they plan to protest during Mr. Blair’s September 8 book signing in London.
