Two Southern California Hospitals Plan Merger

Two Southern California hospitals, Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and Community Hospital of Long Beach, are in talks to merge, according to the Press-Telegram, a newspaper in Long Beach, Calif. Local officials said the merger will enable the smaller Community Hospital to gain access to the larger Memorial health system, which includes three other major hospitals in the area. Under the merger agreement, both hospitals will retain their names.
