U.K. Political Leaders Make Charity Pledge

The heads of Britain’s three main political parties have promised to donate at least a tenth of their estates to charity as part of a national campaign to promote giving, The Guardian writes.
Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats, and Ed Miliband, leader of the opposition Labour party, all endorsed Legacy10, which asks Britons to commit 10 percent or more of their estates to charitable or cultural causes.
Starting in April those who do so will be entitled to reduced inheritance taxes, one of several initiatives to encourage giving unveiled by the U.K. government last year.
