In the wake of the announcement last week that the Graham family would sell The Washington Post and its affiliated publications after 80 years of ownership, the newspaper reflects on the family’s largess.
Donald Graham Graham began supporting the Capital Area Food Bank early on and serves as chairman of the District of Columbia College Access Program, a group he founded to encourage Washington students to attend and finish college. In addition, the Philip L. Graham Fund, gives more than $4-million annually to Washington-area nonprofits.
“My personal philanthropic activities and those of the corporation won’t change,” Graham said in a statement. “I am one of several trustees of the Philip L. Graham Fund, and I am sure I can say their activities won’t change at all, either.”
