Yahoo Examines $73-Million Charity Bid for Rocker’s Piano

Yahoo Japan has suspended the charity auction of a rock star’s crystal piano after a bidder pledged $73-million for the instrument, the Associated Press writes.

Yoshiki, a member of the heavy-metal band X Japan, is among 280 celebrities, artists, and athletes who have donated items for the auction to raise money for reconstruction efforts in Japan.

Yahoo said it has contacted the $73-million bidder but said Thursday it has yet to receive a response. The company will wait several days before resuming the auction.
